The global chemical giant BASF recently broke ground on an innovation campus for the Asia-Pacific region at the chemical industry base in Shanghai Pudong, marking the official launch of the construction project of a highly integrated R&D base with the largest scale in Asia-Pacific region. “The total investment in this expansion of the Pudong site will be approximately EUR 55 million, including both the new innovation campus as well as the new BASF Greater China head office, which will be relocated to Pudong from its present site in downtown Shanghai.” said Saori Dubourg, president of BASF Asia Pacific. It is said that the above mentioned expansion project will be completed by 2012, the innovation campus will open in the first half of 2012 and the head office also will open in 2012.
"The Asia Pacific innovation campus will be an important platform for BASF to undertake innovation activities in Asia-Pacific region. As a part of its global R&D network, the new campus will be integrated into BASF’s global knowledge database. Compared with other R&D centers in Asia-Pacific region, the innovation campus in Pudong Gaoqiao is a larger and highly integrated base of production facilities, application management and customer tests." said Saori Dubourg.
