Many Thousands Worldwide Expected to Take Part in the Fifth Annual Good Deeds Day

2011-03-14    Joycommunications

Good Deeds Day marks its fifth anniversary this year and as in previous years, a massive turnout of volunteers is expected in Israel and in other countries around the globe. The day of volunteering, held under the auspices of the Arison Group's Ruach Tova (Good Spirit) organization, will take place internationally on Sunday, April 3, 2011 and in Israel on Tuesday, April 5.

Private individuals, groups that are formed especially for this day, organizations and companies will all take part in a wide variety of activities designed to better the lives of others - including repairing day centers and hostels, operating recycling projects, organizing "fun days" for populations in need and creating community gardens.

"Each year, this project enables tens of thousands of people to experience the pleasure of doing something good for others and to discover that in many cases, it's very easy to help. There are many places where a smile and a listening ear can bring about a tremendous change. In our experience, many volunteers go on volunteering even after Good Deeds Day, bringing happiness to many more people, as well as to themselves," says businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison, the owner of the Arison Group and the initiator of Good Deeds Day five years ago.

Good Deeds Days has already become part of Israeli culture, revealing the beauty of thousands of people, both individually and in groups, who come out to do something for someone else and also seek to bring new people into the circle of those who are doing good.

This year, Ruach Tova's activity is expanding to reach beyond the borders of Israel, where Good Deeds Day will be held on April 3, mainly among the Jewish communities of the United States, Britain and Ukraine.

Find out about the hundreds of volunteering projects you can join by going to the Ruach Tova website, where everyone can choose the project closest to their heart, their location and their talents.
