Missouri Botanical Garden is to Hold Large-Scale International Lantern Festival in 2012
Missouri Botanical Garden of USA just announced that it was to hold a large-scale international lantern festival in 2012, which would exhibit 26 large-scale festive lanterns from Zigong City, Sichuan Province.
The exhibition is the first lantern festival of lanterns with such a type and scale. The sponsor expects to attract visitors from all over USA to experience the most precious activity and the oldest tradition in China---In the annual Lantern Festival, the Botanical Garden will provide the visitors with an opportunity to watch the wonder that was rarely seen outside the Asia.
About thirty five to forty skillful craftsmen, who came from “The Lantern City of Southern China”---Zigong, Sichuan Province, spent two months living in the botanical garden and building the 26 large-scale festive lanterns elaborately. Each design of lantern is filled with Chinese tradition, symbol and significance.
The lantern festival will exhibit the festive lanterns from May 26 to August 19, 2012 in the open air of Missouri Botanical Garden. The opening hours of botanical garden in the daytime are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; the festive lanterns will be lightened from 6:00pm to 10:00 pm from Thursday to Sunday. The latest admission hour at night is 9 o’clock and will be charged separately. The international lantern festival is sponsored by Emerson Company.
