Aug. 2, according to statistics issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China's apparent consumption of crude oil reached 191m tons in the first five months of this year, an 8.5% increase from the same period of last year. China's dependence on foreign oil was 55.2%, exceeding US dependence of 53.5%. China's oil consumption growth exceeded its GDP growth.
