Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval announced today that he will lead a September Trade Mission to China and South Korea. It will include representatives of Nevada businesses.

“The September Trade Mission to China and South Korea is expected to accelerate Nevada’s economic development and diversification efforts by growing the market for our state’s exports, while attracting investment in Nevada’s promising target industries,” Governor Sandoval said. “The goal of the September Trade Mission to China and South Korea is to expand our state’s global footprint while generating greater economic opportunities for all Nevadans. It is just one more step we are taking to create new business opportunities and change the way we do business.”

Governor Sandoval delivered his comments at the opening of the Skybridge Alternatives Conference at Bellagio, which is attended by 1,800 global business, public policy and investment decision makers.

Nevada firms sold $8 billion worth of goods overseas in 2011, with $1.3 billion worth of goods sold to Asian customers. The more than 5 million foreign travelers who visit Southern Nevada spend in excess of $5.1 billion on goods and services, with Asian visitors driving a significant portion of that figure.

“The Trade Mission is a key initiative in the Governor’s Plan for Economic Development and Diversification, and will strengthen the increasingly vibrant ties between Nevada and Asia,” said Steve Hill, Director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
